Two men have been charged with murder following the stabbing of a former police officer in Leicester.

Officers discovered the body of Paul Fyfe, 47, when they were called to an address on Balderstone Close in Rowlatts Hill early on Friday morning.

A post-mortem test showed he died from a single stab wound to the chest.

Two local men, aged 22 and 24, will appear at Leicester Magistrates' Court on Monday. A 21-year-old man has been released on police bail.

Mr Fyfe is reported to have left Leicestershire Constabulary about six years ago.

Det Ch Insp Mark Harrison, who is leading the investigation, said police were still keen to hear from witnesses.

"We would like to hear from anyone who saw or heard anything that might help us find out what happened.

"I am particularly keen to hear from anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area of Balderstone Close between midnight and 2.30 in the morning."
