Designs invited for Leicestershire war memorial

Artists are being urged to put forward designs for a new war memorial in Leicestershire.

The £75,000 monument will honour those who have given their lives in the armed forces since 1945.

It will be sited in a publicly-accessible area at County Hall and is intended to be an area of "reflection and respect".

The county council said the memorial, which has the support of Royal British Legion, should be ready by early 2012.

Those interested in taking part have been asked to contact the council's Arts and Creatives Industries Office.
