Dying woman's Leicester house is burgled

Police have described as "sickening" a burglary where items were taken from the house of a dying woman.

While relatives sat with the woman at her home in Westover Road, Leicester, offenders broke in and took cash, car keys, computers and a TV.

The householder died hours later and officers said the crime had added to her family's distress.

An appeal for witnesses to the incident, which took place after midnight on Saturday, has been made.

Det Con Louisa Letts said: "As well as the family trying to deal with the loss of a loved one, their grief has been compounded further by the burglary.

"This was a sickening crime which has left the family extremely shocked and distressed."

The items stolen included an Apple iPad computer, cash, a Sony 32in flat-screen television and Apple Powerbook laptop computer.

Officers asked anyone who was offered these items to get in touch.
