Leicestershire community projects secure grants
A Leicestershire primary school and a village recreation ground are set to benefit from community-led county council grants.
St Peter and St Paul Primary in Syston will spend £12,000 - £5,200 of which has come from a SHIRE grant - to build a pond in a wetland area.
Using a SHIRE grant of £3,500, exercise equipment is also being installed on Burton on the Wolds playing fields.
Leicestershire County Council said more grants were still available.
David Parson, leader of the county council, said: "We are putting the Big Society into action, by targeting our grants at a wide range of community-led projects."
SHIRE environmental improvement grants are available for up to 50% of the cost of a project, up to a maximum of £8,000.
