Leicester speedway cash stolen by masked gang

Masked men have stolen a large quantity of cash from Leicester Speedway after threatening a man and his teenage daughter.

The 41-year-old victim was leaving the stadium late on Sunday when he was stopped by three men on Beaumont Way who threatened him with a metal bar.

They made off with the cash towards Krefeld Way.

Police said the man and his daughter were slightly injured and were left badly shaken by the incident.

Det Con Paul Vincent said: "This was an extremely traumatic incident for the victim and his daughter and will no doubt leave a lasting effect on them.

"There were a number of people in the area yesterday evening due to an event at Leicester Speedway and we are keen to speak to anyone who saw any suspicious activity prior to the incident."

The stadium opened in April, bringing speedway back to the city after 28 years.
