Fire hits flats rubbish compound in Loughborough

Firefighters have tackled a large blaze at a bin compound attached to a block of flats in Leicestershire.

Crews were called to the building on Byron Street, Loughborough, just after 03:00 BST.

Back-up pumps were called in from Shepshed, Coalville, Ashby, Western and East Leake stations.

Firefighters had contained the fire and were damping down at the scene on Saturday. An investigation into the cause of the blaze has begun.
