Murder probe over death of toddler in Swadlincote

Leicestershire Police say they are treating the death of a three-year-old boy as murder.

The child was found with life-threatening injuries at a property in the Swadlincote area at 16:55 BST on Tuesday.

He was taken to the Royal Derby Hospital and later transferred to the Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham, where he died on Wednesday afternoon.

A 21-year-old man has been arrested and remains in custody, said police.
