A man found with serious head injuries at a house in Leicestershire earlier this week has died.

Police believe Jason Jelley, 30, may have fallen or been assaulted while walking in the Beaumont Leys area.

Detectives want to speak to a man who may have tried to help Mr Jelley with his injuries as he walked home shortly after 08:45 BST on Wednesday.

A 26-year-old woman arrested in connection with the incident has been released without charge.

Police have been trying to piece together Mr Jelley's movements in the hours before he was injured.

They believe he left his home in Tilling Road at about 07:45 BST and was at the Texaco garage on Parker Drive at 08:05 BST.

It is thought he then walked to Peppercorn Walk, where detectives believe he was injured, before returning home.

Police have urged a man who may have offered help to Mr Jelley near a pedestrian crossing on Strasbourg Drive to contact them.
