Police have released a CCTV image of a car they want to trace in connection with a crash in Leicestershire in which two people died.

Dean Spalding, 27, who was driving a Ford Focus, and Rudolfne Meszaros, 57, the passenger in a Volvo, died on the A4304 at Husbands Bosworth in December.

The driver of a white or silver Volkswagen Golf, which did not stop at the scene, is being sought by police.

Mr Spalding's mother said she was desperate to find out what happened.

Anne Spalding said: "It still feels as if it was yesterday. It was so out of the blue, it doesn't seem real.

"The whole family is still trying to come to terms with what happened to Dean and we just want some questions answered.

"It won't bring him back and it won't change anything but it might help."

Leicestershire Police believe the Volvo attempted to overtake the Golf when it crossed to the opposite side of the carriageway and collided head on with the Ford Focus.

Det Con Nick Bryan, who has been investigating the crash, said he wanted the driver of the VW Golf to help them establish exactly what happened.

He said: "If you know someone who drives a vehicle like this and believe it could have been them in the area, please get in touch. We will treat any information in confidence."
