A 19-year-old prisoner has been found hanged in his cell at a Leicester young offenders institute.

Christopher Neale, from Somercotes, Derbyshire, was serving a two year sentence for sexual activity with a female under the age of 13.

He died at the Glen Parva facility on Saturday. It is understood he was not on suicide watch.

The Prison Service confirmed Neale was found unconscious and attempts at resuscitation were unsuccessful.

An independent investigation has begun.
