Leicester taxi driver hurt in knife robbery

A taxi driver has been injured during a knifepoint robbery in Leicester.

The victim picked up a man from Whitteney Drive North, just after midnight on Saturday, and he asked to be driven to Blaby.

In Ebchester Close the offender asked to stop to get some money but pulled out a knife and stole cash. He made off in the direction of Ebchester Close.

Police said the driver was not seriously hurt but appealed for witnesses to come forward.

The suspect has been described as a white, aged between 20-30 and of slim build. He had stubble and was wearing a grey hooded top, dark tracksuit bottoms and gloves.
