CCTV plea for pair over Leicester stabbing
Police have released CCTV footage of two people they want to speak to over a stabbing in Leicester.
Salem Bahrami, 23, was found with a stab wound to his chest in Myrtle Road, Highfields, on 22 December. He is now in a stable condition in hospital after undergoing surgery.
Officers said the CCTV showed a woman on a mobile phone and another person running towards Bartholomew Street.
They said the pair could be key witnesses to the attack.
The pair were seen walking in Myrtle Road, Highfields, at about 17:30 GMT on 22 December.
Investigating officer Det Con Matt Robinson said the attack was an "extremely serious offence" and needed any potential witnesses to come forward.
"He is gradually regaining his memory in relation to the events of that day but we still need any potential witnesses or anyone with information about the circumstances surrounding the incident to come forward," Mr Robinson said.
"The CCTV footage shows a woman making a telephone call on her mobile at the bottom end of Myrtle Road and a person running away towards Bartholomew Street around the time of the assault."
Officers said they also wanted to talk to a man who had been wearing a cream jacket who may have assisted Mr Bahrami after the attack.
Mr Robinson added that the serious offence would "no doubt leave a lasting affect on the victim".
