A 50-year-old businessman found dead at the Leicester takeaway he ran had been tied up, Leicestershire Police have said.

Dogan Dogan was found in his flat above Aladdin's Pizza in Linton Street, Evington, on Sunday afternoon.

A post-mortem examination has been carried out and police said they were awaiting results.

Det Ch Insp Tom Davies said investigating officers were considering a number of possible motives.

"We would like to speak to anyone who saw Mr Dogan between lunchtime on Saturday and the discovery of his body at about 14:20 GMT on Sunday," he said.

"Equally, I would like to speak to anyone who knew Mr Dogan or has any information which may assist us about why this crime has been committed."

Mr Dogan is believed to have spent some of Saturday evening at another Leicestershire shop he ran, Pizzaman in Lutterworth.

Paying tribute to Mr Dogan, his family said: "Our husband and father was a well respected family man whose only goal in life was to secure the future of his family.

"He was very well liked and trusted within the community. Whoever is responsible for this has done it to an innocent man."
