Man remanded in custody over Taliqa Fields death

A 22-year-old man has been remanded in custody charged with murdering a 10-month-old baby girl in Leicester.

Taliqa Fields was taken to the Leicester Royal Infirmary with serious injuries following an incident at her home on Drummond Road on 1 July. She died the next day.

Louis Burdett, of Aikman Avenue, did not enter a plea when he appeared at Leicester Magistrates' Court.

The case will be next heard on 22 February at Leicester Crown Court.

Leicestershire Police charged Mr Burdett on Tuesday with the murder of Taliqa.

He was the partner of Taliqa's mother at the time of the incident.
