Man dies in collision on A46 in Leicestershire

A man has died in a three-vehicle collision which closed a main Leicestershire road for 12 hours.

The crash on the A46, involving an Audi TT, a tractor and trailer and VW Transporter van happened near the A6 turn for Wanlip, at about 06:45 GMT.

The Audi driver died at the scene and the van driver was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Two men, aged 21 and 24, were arrested in connection with the crash but have been released on police bail.

The road reopened at about 20:00 GMT, police said.

Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to contact Leicestershire Police.
