Bitteswell crash victim's widow offers reward for conviction

The widow of a pedestrian killed in a hit and run has offered a £5,000 reward for information leading to the conviction of the driver involved.

Simon Ware, 44, from Broughton Astley, was fatally injured on 19 December on Ashby Road, Bitteswell, Leicestershire.

He was hit by a car that did not stop and was then run over by a van, which did stop.

Dee Ware, Simon's widow, urged the driver of the first vehicle or anyone with information to go to the police.

"Anybody who knows anything, I just hope and pray that they've got it in them to come forward," Mrs Ware said.

"I've lost my soulmate, he would do anything for anybody. I just miss him," she said.

Det Con Ady Keeble, from Leicestershire Police, said: "It is a possibility that the driver has not been aware that they have been in a collision or possibly they are aware that they have been in a collision but they are not fully aware of the severity of it.

"I would urge that driver, or anyone who knows who that driver is, to make contact," he said.
