Charge over Leicester Diamond Jubilee jewellery raid

A man has been charged in connection with a robbery at a Leicester jewellers on the day of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee visit.

Three men entered the store on Belgrave Road and smashed display cabinets before taking a quantity of gold at about 16:20 GMT on Thursday.

An 18-year-old man has now been charged with robbery.

Three other men arrested, aged 24, 28 and 29, have been released on police bail.

The Queen, Prince Philip and the Duchess of Cambridge visited the city on Thursday at the start of the UK Diamond Jubilee tour.
