Weather reduces boats at Loughborough Canal and Boat Festival

Rising water levels and drought conditions have prevented about 100 boats from attending a canal festival in Loughborough.

Heavy rain caused many Leicestershire waterways to rise to dangerous levels, but another canal section in Leicester is very low.

Organiser Jo Swift said she had never experienced such problems in the 15 years the event had been running.

Despite fewer boats attending, hundreds of people still visited the festival.
