Man found collapsed in Leicester court cell later dies

A man died after he was found collapsed in his cell in Leicester Magistrates' Court.

The man, who has not been named, was found by custody staff at 10:15 GMT on Saturday.

Paramedics were called to the scene and the man was taken to hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Leicestershire Police have launched an investigation and referred his death to the Independent Police Complaints Commission.

A spokeswoman for the force said they have not formally identified the man and investigations are in the early stages.
