A Leicestershire couple who died when their light aircraft crashed into a field on Sunday have been identified.

Robert Moulton, 76, and his wife Lillian Olive Moulton, 84, of Ashby de la Zouch both died at the scene.

The Air Accidents Investigation Branch has visited the scene of the crash near Fenny Drayton.

An inquest into their deaths was opened and adjourned on Wednesday, a coroner's office spokesman said.

It is believed the plane took off from an airstrip near Twycross Zoo and was heading to Stoke Golding airfield.

The couple were confirmed dead at the scene by an air ambulance paramedic.
