Sikh leader attack: Man denies attempted murder

A man has denied attempting to murder a Sikh religious leader who was attacked at a temple in Leicester.

Sri Satguru Uday Singh Ji, described by police as the worldwide spiritual head of the Namdhari community, was assaulted at Gurdwara Namdhari Temple.

Harjit Singh Toor, 27, from Woods Close, Oadby, Leicestershire, appeared at Nottingham Crown Court, where he pleaded not guilty to attempted murder.

He was remanded into custody awaiting a trial at Birmingham Crown Court.

Sri Satguru Uday Singh Ji was attacked at the temple in Spinney Hill in August, and was treated at hospital for his injuries.
