Belgrave murder victim named as Sameena Zaman

A 34-year-old Leicester woman who was found dead on Wednesday morning has been named by police.

The body of Sameena Zaman was discovered at a house on Down Road, Belgrave, after police were alerted by a member of the public.

A 44-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder, but remains in hospital.

A post-mortem examination has been carried out but the cause of death "is not yet clear", police said.

Police said it was believed the victim came to the UK from Pakistan in May 2010 and was known as Sameena Kauser before her marriage.

Leicestershire Police spokesman Det Ch Insp Tony Yarwood said: "Despite the arrest we continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of Sameena."

He asked anyone with information to contact the police.
