A report of gunshots being fired at a house led to police closing off a road in Leicester.

Armed police patrolled parts of the Highfields area of the city after a "firearms incident" at 06:00 BST.

A 999 caller reported that shots may have been fired at a house in Saxby Street, near Sparkenhoe Street, smashing a window, police said.

Nobody was hurt. The area was cordoned off for more than 10 hours for forensic tests.

Leicestershire Police are appealing to anyone who may have seen anything, or saw anyone acting suspiciously, to come forward.
