Leicestershire Police officer Neville Thompson jailed for burglary
A serving police officer has been jailed for four months after pleading guilty to taking £60 and a set of car keys from a garage.
PC Neville Thompson had denied burglary at Leicester Magistrates' Court but admitted the charge at Leicester Crown Court.
The court heard the 36-year-old, from Syston, entered Auto Milligas on 25 March and committed the offence.
Thompson has been suspended from the force.
Leicestershire Police said it started an investigation into Thompson's behaviour after a complaint was made by a member of the public.
Det Supt Simon Hurst, from the force's professional standards department, said: "We will take the appropriate action against those who commit offences or breach the expected standards of the force."
