Work on historic Lincoln street finished
A £1.1m project to restore a historic part of Lincoln has been completed.
Over the past seven months Bailgate, which runs from the Newport Arch to the top of Steep Hill, has been repaved with York stone.
The Roman Well and St Paul area, halfway along the road, have also been landscaped.
The county council said the work had enhanced the character of the city centre and both visitors and businesses would feel the benefit.
Councillor Eddy Poll, executive member for economic development, said: "Bailgate is one of the most important and historic areas in uphill Lincoln, but the street scene had been looking increasingly worn and shabby.
"Bailgate Restored is the result and we are thrilled with the outcome which has enhanced the character of this much-loved area, benefiting tourists, local businesses and residents alike."
