Motorists warned over Lincolnshire A1 repairs

Motorists have been warned to expect disruption to travel as plans are announced to resurface the A1 in Lincolnshire.

The Highways Agency said repair work between Grantham and Stamford would begin on Monday.

The A1 southbound carriageway will be closed between the A607 and A606 junctions overnight until 7 November.

The northbound section of the route will be closed the following week with diversions in operation.

Mark Braithwaite, Highways Agency project manager, said: "We are carrying out this essential road resurfacing work at night when traffic is lightest to minimise delay to road users.

"Due to the road closures and associated diversion routes, drivers should plan their journeys and allow extra time to reach their destinations."
