Roadworks warning for drivers on Lincoln's High Street

Motorists in Lincoln are being warned to expect disruption as a six-month road improvement scheme gets under way on the High Street.

The work, to revamp footpaths, create new parking bays and a bus lane, is being carried out in three phases.

The first - between the Portland Street and Dixon Street junctions - starts on Tuesday.

Traffic will be restricted to single lanes in both directions and local parking may not be available at times.

From mid-July, work will begin at the Dixon Street junction, and in September and October improvements will be carried out between Dixon Street and South Park.

Les Davies, senior project leader at Lincolnshire County Council, said: "Businesses, road users, shoppers and pedestrians will all ultimately benefit from these improvements and we hope they can bear with us whilst the work takes place."

The project is expected to be completed by the end of October.
