Quality tests carried out on Lincolnshire bathing water

Bathing water at nine locations on the Lincolnshire coast is being tested to check the quality meets European standards and regulations.

The samples, taken each week throughout the summer months, will be tested by Environment Agency officers.

The agency said it had been working with Anglian Water, businesses and farmers to improve local water quality.

Mablethorpe, Cleethorpes, Sutton-on-Sea, Ingoldmells and Skegness are among the areas that will be tested.

Adrian Lack of the Environment Agency, said: "Bathing water quality around Lincolnshire has improved dramatically over the past 20 years and we are continuing to work with our partners towards further improvement.

"A record number of beaches reached the highest European standards last year but we are not complacent and continue with our partners to work hard to tackle all sources of pollution."
