Edlington piggery fire kills 100 piglets

A hundred piglets have died after a fallen heating light ignited straw at a piggery in Lincolnshire.

Crews from three fire stations were called to the site at Edlington, near Horncastle, on Tuesday night.

The large shed, which measures 2,000 sq m (21,000 sq ft), was severely damaged in the fire, which broke out at about 2100 BST.

Eighteen sows also died in the blaze, according to Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue.
