Lincolnshire driver, 89, dies after tree crash

A man has died when a car hit a tree on a Lincolnshire road.

Police were called to Back Lane at Bilsby at about 1015 BST on 20 June to reports of a Skoda which had left the road.

Both people in the car were hurt in the crash but their injuries were not thought to be life-threatening at the time, police said.

The driver, an 89-year-old man from Mablethorpe, died on Tuesday at Boston's Pilgrim Hospital.

Lincolnshire Police have asked anyone who may have witnessed the crash to contact them.

The man's death brings the total number of people killed on Lincolnshire's roads to 20, compared with 16 at the same time in 2010.
