Ingoldmells tackles 'horrendous bottleneck'

Traffic-calming measures are starting on a busy section of Lincolnshire road described as "a horrendous bottleneck".

From Friday, motorists travelling north on Roman Bank in the seaside resort of Ingoldmells will not be allowed to turn right into Sea Lane.

Graeme Butler of Lincolnshire Highways Department said motorists were often caught in long traffic jams along the road during the busy summer season.

Parish councillor Len Chapman said the road was "a horrendous bottleneck".

"We have needed to have something done for years," Mr Chapman said.

"We must have a go - if you don't try something you won't get anywhere."

Mr Butler said: "It is a very busy area in the summertime and we are banning the turn into Sea Lane - it is where all the action is with Fantasy Island on one side and the sea on the other side."

The changes will be monitored for six months.
