Alert over Lincolnshire cold-caller repair con
A warning has been issued about bogus workmen after two Lincolnshire residents lost hundreds of pounds.
In the first incident on Tuesday, police said an elderly woman in High Street, Heckington, paid £400 to a man who offered to fix her roof.
On the same day, a 97-year-old in High Street, Billinghay, handed over £200 for repairs to her roof. In neither case was any work carried out.
Police have urged people not to deal with unsolicited callers.
A similar incident was reported in Electric Station Road, Sleaford, earlier but the residents declined the offer of work.
The offender is described as white, about 5ft 9in (1.75m) tall, between 30 and 40 years old and of medium build. He had short blond hair and was clean shaven.
Anyone with information on these or similar incidents has been asked to call police.
