South Holland District Council sets up renovation fund

Cash is being made available to restore "architectural gems" in a Lincolnshire district.

South Holland District Council said grants were being offered to renovate offices and shops in the conservation zones.

The authority has earmarked areas in Spalding, Crowland, Holbeach and Long Sutton as part of the scheme.

The funding is available on a first-come-first-served basis until March 2012.

Councillor Roger Gambba-Jones said: "The scheme is a wonderful opportunity for those who own buildings that are valued by our communities, to seek help to restore them to their former glory.

"Given the ever increasing pressure on the public finances, it is even more important that we take full advantage of any opportunity to bring outside investment in to South Holland.

"I therefore urge all those with eligible properties to get in touch with the district council, to see how we can help."
