Lincolnshire purse theft gang prompts warning

Shoppers in Lincolnshire have been warned to be alert over a gang who are stealing purses.

Two incidents were reported in Stamford in the past week, with one woman having £700 withdrawn after her bank card was taken.

In Bourne, a 73-year-old woman was distracted by a stranger and then had her purse, containing £290, stolen.

Police said they believed three women were involved and appealed for any witnesses to come forward.

One of the women was described as about 30 years old and plump with dark hair in a bun. She was wearing dark glasses, a white Nike shirt and three-quarter-length trousers.

Another suspect was between 18 and 25 years old and wearing a bright pink T-shirt, black jeans and carrying a brown handbag.

The third suspect was between 18 and 25 years old and wearing a scarf, a white long-sleeved top and blue jeans.
