Motorist killed in Lincolnshire A1 road crash

A 63-year-old Lincolnshire man has died in hospital after his car left the road on the A1 and hit a tree.

The man, believed to be from Allington, near Grantham, was taken to Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham after his Jaguar crashed.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the accident at 08:50 GMT on Friday at Barrowby to contact them.

The northbound section of the road was closed after the accident, but it has reopened, Lincolnshire police said.

A total of 41 people have died in road accidents in Lincolnshire this year, compared with 37 in the same period in 2010.
