Investigations are under way after an explosion and fire at a takeaway kebab shop in Lincoln city centre.

Fire and Rescue officers were called to Tasty Provisions in St Mary's Street at about 23:45 GMT on Sunday. The fire was extinguished and no-one was injured.

Lincolnshire Police want to speak to a man dressed in dark clothing in connection with the fire.

The road is closed while investigators examine the scene to establish how the fire started.

Insp Judith Kent, from the force, said a caller reported seeing a man dressed in dark clothing, possibly wearing a cap, running away from the fast food shop immediately after it caught fire.

It is believed the man ran off over the rail footbridge towards the train station.

Business nearby were not evacuated as they were all closed at the time.

Police have appealed to anyone who was in the area at the time of the fire to contact them on the non-emergency number 101.
