An explosion and fire at a Lincoln takeaway on Christmas Day is being treated as arson, police said.

The attack at Tasty Provisions in St Mary's Street happened just before midnight.

Insp Judith Kent said a caller reported seeing a man dressed in dark clothing running from the shop just after it caught fire.

Police have appealed to anyone who was in the area at the time of the fire to contact them.

The fire was extinguished and no-one was injured.

It is believed the man ran off over the rail footbridge towards the train station.
