Stamford-based E Bowmans and Sons in administration

Fifty-three jobs have been lost at a 125-year-old Lincolnshire building company which has collapsed.

Stamford-based contractor E Bowmans and Sons specialised in heritage projects and was involved in the refurbishment of Lincoln Castle.

A spokesman for administrators FRP Advisory said all staff were made redundant shortly before the business went into administration.

He said the firm had debts of about £2.6m and would be wound up.

Chris Stirland, from the administrators, said a "challenging construction environment" had led to the "financial demise" of the family firm.
