Mablethorpe's £50m housing development approved

Plans for a £50m development at a Lincolnshire resort have been approved.

East Lindsey District Council had previously rejected proposals for 180 homes and a supermarket in Mablethorpe over concerns about the impact on the town.

But the proposals were reconsidered after the developers said the application was not heard fairly.

The scheme was given outline planning permission at a meeting of the authority's planning committee.

The council had rejected plans for the Lindum Group development on Golf Road in December because it believed it would be "detrimental" to the town centre and could cause small shops to close.
