BBC Radio Lincolnshire is planning to get out of the studio and broadcast from around the county to get closer to the communities it serves.

Every programme will come from a different location, across seven days, with the aim of reflecting life in Lincolnshire more than ever.

One Week in Lincolnshire will take place from 14 to 20 May.

Managing editor Charlie Partridge said the project will be like nothing the station has attempted before.

"I doubt any local radio station has ever attempted something as ambitious as this, but we didn't want to do something half-hearted," he said.

"Apart from a small team back at base, our radio station is effectively on tour for one week visiting all corners of the county.

"We thought we knew Lincolnshire pretty well, but as part of the planning for the week we've made even more discoveries about our great county and we can't wait to share them with everyone.

"The logistics and technological side of this project are mind-boggling, but it will all be worth it as we hope to present a fascinating and unique insight into our county."

Station open day

As part of the week the Rod Whiting Breakfast Show will come from places like the Old Hall, in Gainsborough, and the National Centre for Craft and Design, in Sleaford, and Grantham railway station.

Melvyn Prior's Mid-Morning programme will focus on an issue a day as he travels the county.

He will look at volunteering while at Plough Hill, in Caistor, and healthcare in the county while broadcasting from the Pilgrim Hospital in Boston.

Peter Levy's Show will see him interview guests at the Meridian Centre in Louth on Monday, The Waterside Centre in Lincoln on Tuesday, the Embassy Theatre in Skegness on Wednesday, Boston's Assembly rooms on the Thursday before rounding off the week in Spalding at the South Holland Centre.

As part of the week BBC Radio Lincolnshire will also hold an open day at the radio station on Saturday 19 May from 09:00 to 12:00 BST.
