Victim named after two-car crash on A17 near Sutterton

A 78-year-old man who died after a crash in Lincolnshire on Sunday has been identified by police.

Carl Rayner of Alpine View, Hemsworth, West Yorkshire died after two cars collided on the A17 near Sutterton.

Mr Rayner was taken to Pilgrim Hospital in Boston where he later died, Lincolnshire Police said.

A 21-year-old man from Spalding, who was driving the other car, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and released on bail.

The road was closed for several hours while investigations took place.

Police are asking for anyone who was in the area about the time of the collision to contact them.

A police spokesman said Mr Rayner was driving a silver Vauxhall Meriva, which was in collision with a beige Vauxhall Zafira.
