Mablethorpe Tesco plan may create 200 jobs

Two-hundred jobs could be created as part of plans to build a supermarket in a Lincolnshire town.

Tesco wants to build a store on Golf Road in Mablethorpe.

A site on Station Road had previously been earmarked but the firm said the new proposal would allow them to build a larger store and create 70 more jobs.

The firm said it was working with Lindum Developments which already has outline planning permission for a supermarket and 180 homes on Golf Road.

Simon Petar, corporate affairs manager at Tesco, said: "The additional jobs together with the planned expansion of Mablethorpe make this a natural fit and we look forward to explaining our plans in more detail over the coming weeks and months with the wider Mablethorpe community."

Paul McSorley, group property director of the Lindum Group, said: "We are excited to help bring a new Tesco store forward for the town in the right location, servicing existing and new residents."

The firms are preparing a planning application for the store to be considered by East Lindsey District Council.
