A 29-year-old man has been arrested after a car was driven "deliberately" at a member of staff outside a seaside theme park bar.

Lincolnshire Police are linking the incident with an earlier altercation between a man and security staff near the Scallywags bar in Ingoldmells.

The force said a man was allegedly assaulted on Tuesday evening at the Fantasy Island resort, near Skegness.

Later, a black car mounted the pavement and was driven deliberately at staff.

Police are treating it as attempted murder and said the arrested man was from Derby.

Det Ch Insp Dave Rimmer, of Lincolnshire Police, said: "From looking at the CCTV we've got of the incident it appears the vehicle has been deliberately driven on to the pavement and at a member of the security staff.

"Luckily, they haven't sustained serious injuries as they managed to jump just before the vehicle struck so, although they were hit, they ended up rolling over the bonnet and off the side of the car.

"My real concern is that this is a very busy resort and this could easily have been more serious."

Officers are asking anyone who witnessed either incident, between 19:00 and 21:30 BST on Tuesday, to get in touch.
