A farmer honoured for his work with flood victims has appealed for the return of his MBE after thieves stole his car containing the award.

Andrew Ward founded the Forage Aid charity to help livestock producers hit by bad weather in 2014.

A Land Rover was stolen at his farm in Leadenham, Lincolnshire, on 18 August.

Mr Ward said thieves could keep the vehicle but "the things in the Discovery are absolutely useless to them but priceless to me".

A plastic box inside his vehicle contained the honour, alongside business and farming records, he said.

Mr Ward said: "I would just like the MBE and that box back."

He has an 1,800-acre arable farm and received his award from Prince Charles in a ceremony at Buckingham Palace.

Owners of the Land Rover Defender or Discovery have been warned of a spate of recent thefts, Lincolnshire Police said.
