A team of about 20 firefighters tackled a blaze which destroyed a fireworks shop in east London.

Four crews arrived at the scene in Sewardstone Road, Chingford, to deal with the incident on Saturday night.

More than three quarters of the building, a former Scout hut, was destroyed.

Police closed the road for an hour while the fire was brought under control.

Meanwhile, four fire crews battled to extinguish a blaze which gutted a derelict shop in Harold Wood, Essex, in the early hours of Sunday.

Firefighters arrived at the scene, in Redden Court Road, at around 0200 GMT. All of the building's three floors were damaged in the blaze.
