Woman rescued unconscious from London tower block fire

A woman has been rescued unconscious from a fire in a block of flats in south-east London.

About 30 firefighters tackled the blaze in the ninth floor flat at Egremont House in Russett Way, Greenwich, in the early hours of Monday morning.

Fire crews using breathing apparatus got the woman out and managed to resuscitate her.

She was then taken by air ambulance to Lewisham Hospital where her condition is said to be serious but but stable.
