Third man charged with Peckham murder of teenager

A third man has been charged with the murder of a 17-year-old athlete who was shot dead in south London.

Sylvester Akapalara, of Streatham, was shot dead in a stairwell on the Pelican Estate in Peckham on 29 December.

The teenager, a Sierra Leonian national, was said be in the top 30 in the country for 400m running.

David Nyamupfukudza, 18, of New Cross, also faces two counts of attempted murder. He will appear at Camberwell Magistrates Court on Saturday.

Two other teenagers have been charged with the murder.

Sodiq Adeojo, 18, and a 17-year-old male were remanded in custody when they appeared at Camberwell Green Magistrates' Court on 3 January.

Officers have continued to appeal for witnesses.
