Murdered man, 91, identified after Tottenham attack

A 91-year-old man who died a week after suffering serious head injuries following an attack in his north London home has been identified.

William Reilly, a retired builder, was discovered by his son at the property in Tower Gardens Road, Tottenham, on 29 December.

He died in Royal London Hospital on Thursday.

A woman, 49, was arrested on suspicion of murdering the man. She is being held at an north London police station.

A post-mortem examination revealed the man died from head injuries and pneumonia.

Officers said they believed the suspect was known to the victim.

Det Ch Insp John Oldham of the Metropolitan Police said the man had suffered an "awful assault".

He appealed for witnesses who may have been in the area between 1500 and 1600 GMT on 29 December to come forward.
