Man has medical treatment after fire in Hackney shop

A man was treated for smoke inhalation and two others fled flats after fire tore through a building.

Flames took hold of a shop with homes above in Lauriston Road, Hackney, in the early hours.

The London Fire Brigade was called at 0015 GMT and the fire was under control by 0053 GMT

Three people managed to escape the flats above the shop. The London Ambulance Service attended and gave treatment to one victim.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
