A woman has been airlifted to hospital after she fell while abseiling at the O2 Arena in south-east London during a charity event.

The woman was taking part in an 80ft (24m) abseil from the Greenwich venue, but it is not clear how far she fell.

The Stroke Association, which organised the fundraising event, said it had rigorous health-and-safety rules.

London Ambulance Service said the woman, in her 50s, had injured her arm, but was not seriously hurt.
